C-DAC Mohali celebrated its 23rd Foundation Day on May 10, 2011. Dr. Debashish Dutta, Scientist G, Group Head from DeitY , MCIT graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, with the Guest of Honour Dr. R.S. Khandpur, Director General, PGSC and ex-DG CEDT Mohali. Sh. J.S. Bhatia, Executive Director , C-DAC Mohali welcomed the guests, invitees and employees. In his welcome address, he highlighted recent achievements made by C-DAC Mohali on the R&D, Training and Business Development fronts.

Dr. R.S. Khandpur emphasized the need for innovation and importance of creativity in research. He also spoke about the vital role to be played by Indian youth in shaping the nation in the times to come. He also called upon the need to increase India's share in publications and patents.

While appreciating the work being done by C-DAC Mohali, Dr. Debashish Dutta highlighted the need to identify such segments which have large indigenous user base and are supported by Govt. programs. He felt that schemes like MNREGA could be explored besides Telemedicine for masses.

Addresses by the dignitaries were followed by the release of “Library of Designs” for Phulkari embroidery. The CD was released by Dr. Dutta. This application, developed by the Multilingual Lab of C-DAC Mohali, contains around 500 traditional designs of Phulkari which can be saved and printed in three different sizes.

Technical talks in the area of Cyber Security were delivered by Dr. Bezawada Bruhadeshwar from IIIT Hyderabad, and Dr. Anjali Sardana from IIT Rorkee. They deliberated on challenges in Botnet Detection and role of Honeypot Technology.

Mementoes were presented by the chief guest to the employees who had completed 20/15/10 years of service with C-DAC
