The Multilingual Technologies is one of the thrust areas at C-DAC Mohali and C-DAC Mohali is one of the pioneers in this domain. The following products, technologies and solutions have been developed by Multilingual Technologies Division.
Bharateeya Embroidery
Under the heritage computing, it is C-DAC Mohali’s initiative to preserve the heritage of traditional embroideries of India. As India is large country enriched with traditions and customs of different states and of different peoples.
Bhashavali
The English to Punjabi translation system is the web based application which has been designed and developed, using the thin client architecture in which the translation process happens at both client side and server side. This is an optimal solution for sharing translation-system resources.
IT Lexicon
Numerous options of translations or transliterations for computer terms and terminology are floating on the Internet. As such there is no lexicon or guide available to standardize these. We are doing this job by creating a Multilingual Computer Lexicon. In this we are providing translation, transliteration, and category of English word in Punjabi word.
Unicode Converter
As per E-Governance standards of character encoding for Indian-languages, all government web applications should be meant in Unicode. Standardization is one of the baselines to be followed in localization. Standardization means to follow certain universally accepted standards so that the developers from any part of the globe, could interact through the application.
Sampadak
"Windows Based Punjabi Editor with Spell Checker": The Project is a Punjabi word processor with Spell Checker under MS-Windows. It has similar capabilities & desktop as MS -Word. The main dictionary approximately contains 40,000 punjabi words. User can also add new words in to his own dictionary.
