Information Technology is growing at a rapid pace and its impact can be felt in every walk of life. C-DAC Mohali is involved in the development of multilingual technologies.

"Windows Based Punjabi Editor with Spell Checker": The Project is a Punjabi word processor with Spell Checker under MS-Windows. It has similar capabilities & desktop as MS -Word. The main dictionary approximately contains 40,000 punjabi words.User can also add new words in to his own dictionary. The tool used for developing this software package is Visual C ++ 6.0.  More Info..


English-Punjabi IT Terminology: 


Information Technology is growing at a rapid pace and its impact can be felt in every walk of life. A need was strongly felt to develop IT terminology in Punjabi in order to promote the use of Information Technology among Punjabi users. A step was taken in this direction by C-DAC, Mohali to develop standard IT terminology in Punjabi, the same will put on the web for easy reference. We will  provide the first version of the 'IT Terminology' in which translation and transliteration of English IT terms in Punjabi will be there.


Bhashavali (Translation system for English to Punjabi):


The English to Punjabi translation system is the web based application which has been designed and developed, using the thin client architecture in which the translation process happens at both client side and server side. This is an optimal solution for sharing translation-system resources. This application will not only for English to Punjabi, but also for other Indian sub-languages. The first version of this project is for English to Punjabi translation.
To convert any language to any other language, we need two basic things:

  • Words
  • Grammar and Rules
We need a dictionary, which describe the mapping among the words. That will be stored in database along with its part of speech indication.

Phulkari :(Window based Software for designing patterns with various embroidery techniques and embellishments)
The aim of this project is to develop an integrated package for both, amateurs and professionals involved in industry of Fashion Designing. The first version will cover the following features:

  1. User friendly interface. 
  2. The software is in two languages (English & Punjabi).
  3. Provision is given to create library of motifs.
  4. Stitches are added and can be used in creating the motifs.
  5. Library is use to create embroidery pattern on dress material. Each motif can be resize according to the requirement, rotate at any angle. Repeat motif horizontally or vertically at particular distance by giving difference value.
  6. Created pattern can be preview and print and saved for future use.
  7. Motifs can be created using tools provided in the software. Final motif can be saved as .png and for editable motif it is save as .dtl
  8. Different fill styles are provided for motifs.
  9. Module of customer details.
