BOSS (Bharat Operating System Solutions) GNU/Linux distribution developed by C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing) derived from Debian for enhancing the use of Free/ Open Source Software throughout India. BOSSGNU/Linux - a key deliverable of NRCFOSS has upgraded from Entry level server to advanced server.
National Resource Centre for Free/Open Source Software (NRCFOSS) endeavours to contribute towards the growth of FOSS in India through Research & Development, Human Resource Development, Networking and Entrepreneurship Development, as well as, serve as the reference point for all FOSS related activities across the country.
As part of the NRCFOSS promotional activities, C-DAC Mohali organized a workshop-cum-demo at
Hotel Taj, Chandigarh on 31st July,2009 .
The workshop was targeted towards the Government officials. It gives an overview about Open source technologies from the emergence of FOSS, its advantages and benefits, Introduction to BOSS GNU/Linux, tools and technologies, language tools and so on. More than 140
delegates attended this workshop.
