It’s a constant war between the good and the evil, and you find yourself torn between what is right and what is wrong. And the best part yet – you find yourself rooting for the villain and actually enjoying it. So if you haven’t watched this masterpiece yet, we’ve come to your rescue! Here’s a detailed index of the House of Cards to equip your brain with a quick summary of the show, before you delve deeper into it. Check it out!

Frank, a Democratic Congressman celebrates the victory of President Garrett Walker whom he actively helped in his campaign. However, things go south when Walker says that he plans to propagate his agenda in Congress and does not intend to comply with the agreements.

Frank thus presents himself as the right-hand man of Garett, but behind his back hatches a masterplan so as to get a cabinet position.

Frank’s wife runs the Clear Water NGO, and often times is seen using Frank’s connections to get to the big guns to make her venture successful. Nonetheless, it is clear from the initial parts of the season that both husband and wife lust for power, and scheme and strategize together to help each become more successful as well.

Underwood gets his hands on the reporter whom he manipulates into changing the public opinion. He then also uses Peter to overpower Walker and as a major pawn to stand in the elections, only to make him lose by defaming him.

By stitching a well-strategized plot together and executing it nicely, by the end of the season he gets elected as the Vice-President of the country. But the reporter, Zoe, gets a hunch of Underwood’s masterplan – and starts piecing it back together to trace it back to him.

Zoe and two of her friends, Janine and Lucas start to investigate Underwood’s case and locate Rachel. Frank appoints Doug and brings her to a safe house, whereas lures Zoe on the other hand to a metro station.

Seeing an opportunity with no eyes or security cameras fixed on him, he pushes Zoe in front of an incoming train – thus getting her killed. After Zoe’s death, Janine aborts the mission but Lucas continues.

He takes a hacker’s help to hack into Underwood’s text history, but the hacker turns out to be Doug himself – who frames Lucas for cybercrime instead. Meanwhile, Doug starts to get excessively obsessed with Rachel, so much so that Rachel ambushes him and runs for her life, leaving him there to die.

On the other hand, Claire gets quite close to the First Lady and gets to know that her and Walker’s marriage are facing some unusual tensions. Meanwhile, Frank manages to successfully drive a rift between Tusk and the President to his own advantage.

The Justice Department starts to dig deeper into the connections between Feng and Tusk. Feng brainwashes Walker into giving out his travel records that clearly state he visited a marriage counselor, raising questions whether the donations were discussed or not.

Articles of impeachment get drafted and Frank manipulates Tusk to testify against the President – which brings him down from his presidential position; making Frank the 46th President of the United States.

During the Presidential elections, Frank uses ICO to his advantage, as a means to secure votes in the key states. Doug hires a hacker and freezes the internet in a lot of places to wipe down hundreds and hundreds of files.

When Conway starts to win in the initial stages, Frank’s political machines fake a terrorist attack, and Frank pins it on the ICO. So much so that they call the Ohio election office and ask them to call the election off early under the pretense of a terrorists attack.

Ohio refuses to do so, and neither candidate gets the final number of votes they secured. When the election stays unresolved for over nine weeks the matter is transferred into the hands of the Congress office.

Both end up in a tie with Frank’s 12% baggage and Conway losing his temper often. When Claire manages to bag a senate vote, she is declared as the Acting President for the time being. She calls for a fresh election of Tennessee and Ohio.

With the help of media manipulation and tactics, they manage to win the election in these two states. By the end of it all. Frank gets elected as the President while Claire gets elected as the Vice President of the United States.

However, Zoe’s murder comes out in the light, and it’s revealed that it was all Frank’s plan to secure a place as the President. Frank is compelled to resign, leaving Claire as the 47th President of the United States.
