The British period crime drama set the film industry on a storm with its inception back in 2013. And since then, it has released a total of five seasons yet, (six is still in the talks, and is rumored to hit screens next year) and each one of them has successfully outdone its predecessor. Peaky Blinders is loosely based on the story of a youth gang that had the same name, and their doings back in the 1890s – so it’s safe to say, it’s a near-real story. If drugs, mafia, fight sequences, betrayals, love, and war – blended into perfection in a drama series is your kind of Sunday evening show, then Peaky Blinders is it. And if you’re looking to catch up on this series before season 6 is out, we’ve got you covered. Here’s a detailed index of Peaky Blinders to help you through, check it out!

The pilot season kickstarts the show with the year 1919 serving as its backdrop, post the first world war. Tommy Shelby comes across a contain loader of guns; something that Inspector Campbell has arrived to investigate about upon the orders of Winston Churchill. Even though Aunt Polly persuades Tommy to hand it over to the government, Tommy decides to keep it as a speck of secret dirt on them to be used to his advantage later.
Inspector Campbell takes his due diligence up a notch by appointing Grace to work as an undercover agent to dig deeper. She starts to work in Birmingham as a barmaid to help Campbell find the whereabouts of the consignment, for which she starts to work on getting closer to Tommy. Meanwhile, Tommy’s sister Ada is revealed to be pregnant with her communist boyfriend Freddie’s child. Freddie also happened to be close to Tommy and his war comrade once upon a time; something which was in the past now. Turns out Tommy had been betting on horse races and participating in mare fixes, for which Billy confronts him later.
Even after being suspicious of Grace’s identity and claims, Tommy opens up to her and hires her as her secretary. On the other hand, John reveals his whims of marrying Lizzie, who also happened to be a former prostitute with Tommy being one of her regulars. Tommy somehow lures her into spending a night with for the last time, and when she falls for the trap he informs John of the same. He later gets John and Esme married, to form a concrete alliance with the Lee family.
When Arthur Sr. tricks Arthur Jr and abandons him after getting his hands on a heft sum of cash, the latter sinks into major depression. Elsewhere, Grace tries to form a deal by trading information about the guns with Campbell in exchange for Tommy’s safety. Campbell proposes Grace to which she refuses straight away, and Tommy flips a coin asking whether he should be with her even after full-well knowing about her betrayal. The series ends with Campbell holding a gun at Grace’s temple.

Season one was left at crossroads, and season two starts off with a twist. Turns out it was Grace who ended up shooting Campbell and abandoning his writhing body there to die. A couple of years later, Tommy gets involved with the IRA and Campbell returns, having survived the gunshot but developed a leg injury instead.
Polly finally uncovers a way to get her hands on some information about the kids who were taken away from her when she was young. On the other hand, Sabini’s men beat Tommy into a pulp, so much so that he ends up in the hospital. Campbell visits him there and threatens him to use the information about his involvement with the IRA as leverage against him, and then goes to Camden to meet with the Alfie Solomons and seal a certain deal.
Tommy finally gets to know about the whereabouts of his aunt’s son, who is allegedly now adopted. Also, Tommy and his family are also informed that they can contact their long-lost-now-found son only after he turns eighteen. However, he ends up at Tommy’s doorstep and the duo gets to know each other a bit more. Meanwhile, Arthur starts to struggle with constant war flashbacks due to which he ends up killing a young man while boxing. The boy’s mother then tricks Arthur into a murder, but the attempt goes in vain.
The Shelbys take Michael to a horse auction, where Tommy ends up buying one that goes into training under the supervision of May Carleton. May and Tommy hit it off pretty soon and kickstart a quick romance. May starts to fall in love with Tommy, demanding more from the relationship. However, Tommy keeps it strictly physical as he finds himself still healing from his broken relationship with Grace. Consequently, he had also been calling her frequently and hanging up on her time and again.
Grace and Tommy reunite when the former comes back to the UK from America with her husband to seek fertility treatment. Passion stirs and she and Tommy end up sleeping together, soon after which Grace finds herself to be pregnant.
Campbell gets Michael arrested and strikes a deal with Polly, the conditions of which stated that she had to sleep with him for Michael to be freed. Both Polly and Michael come under tremendous tension due to the odd deal. The series ends with Polly shooting Campbell to death on Derby Day and Tommy getting kidnapped and almost killed, with Winston Churchill promising to stay in touch.

The third season starts off with a grand wedding of Tommy Shelby marrying Grace. However, during the same, a Russian man tries to gain access into the event’s inner circle – for which he has to provide the correct code word, something all the guests knew and had to say. When the Russian man gets it wrong, the Shelbys get compelled to kill him – forcing Tommy to spill blood on his own wedding.
Arch Duke Romanov hands over a hefty sum in the form of sapphire to Thomas after he kills the man, and both of them agree to enter business together in the future. The runaway Duke also introduced Tommy to his niece, Grand Duchess Tatiana Petrovna.
Surprisingly, Father Hughes is also having a slice of pie courtesy to the deal and thereby threatens to kill Tommy’s son Charlie if he ever dares to contact Ada, due to her communist network.
John had beaten up Angel Changretta, the son of Vincente Changretta. When Grace wears the gifted sapphire to the Shelby Charity Foundation dinner, she gets brutally murdered upon the orders of Vincente, as a means to seek revenge from the Shelbys. Tommy sinks into grave grief and depression and starts a rebound relationship with Tatiana.
Tommy manages to capture Vincente and tortures him alive with the help of John and Arthur. However, Arthur starts to pity Vincente’s condition and shoots him, sparing him the struggle. When Tommy gets to know that Father Hughes is trying to sell the Russian families to the Soviets, he offers to kill him free of cost. He seeks help from the Alfie Solomons to pull of a heist and get his hands on real jewels – something the Russians were planning to replace with fake ones to double-cross Tommy and get him killed instead.
Surprisingly, Tatiana was also a part of the heist and is given her fair share which she takes with her back to Vienna. The rest of the loot gets distributed by Tommy among the Shelbys. However, just within a matter of minutes, they get to know that the cops are hunting them down for the train explosion that occurred – which was allegedly led by Tommy.
The series ends with Ada becoming the head of the family, which highlights how the patriarchal show starts incorporating matriarchial touches, and Linda and Arthur welcome a baby into the world together. Michael reveals about his abusive father and traumatic childhood and is the one to kill his father in the end.

The first episode of this season is when the audience loses their minds – John Shelby gets shot. The previous season witnessed Polly, Michael, Arthur, and John being walked to the hanging ropes, ready to be hanged to death for their crimes. Somehow, Tommy was able to plead for mercy and have their sins pardoned seconds away from the great execution.
However, this particular episode saw the once close-knit family parting ways from each other for obvious reasons. Even though Tommy was the one to get them out of the hell hole they were taken into, he was also the one responsible for them punished in the first place.
Polly starts to hallucinate often about her near-death experience, making her resort to pills and prescriptions to keep her sanity intact. On the other hand, Luca Changretta starts to conspire to find a way to avenge her father and brother’s death from the Shelbys.
The Shelbys were finally able to kill off the Changrettas for once and for all, however, the death of Alfie Solomons left fans in dismay. In the end, he manipulates Tommy into killing him as he was already suffering from cancer.

Barney gets shot in the head and dies before he’s able to kill Oswald Mosley, and Polly’s fiance Aberama Gold also gets stabbed to death while waiting to confront Jimmy McCavern. Another huge reveal was that Alfie Solomons decided to play dead this whole time, and makes a dramatic comeback this season. Oswald Mosely makes it till the end of the series too, thanks to the epic failure of Tommy’s plans.
Tommy gets hold of a sniper rifle and some cocaine and decides to shoot Mosely on-spot while he would be leading the rally. However, the one he hired to shoot allegedly hadn’t held a gun even, for over a decade and a half. Barney, the said sniper, gets pulled out of the rally, thanks to Finn acting as the whistleblower when he informed of Tommy’s plan to Billy – who informed somebody resulting in Barney’s dismissal.
Tommy still continues to hallucinate and lucid dream about Grace and his dead horse and tends to like sleeping and avoiding reality way more than actually spending time awake. Most of the hallucinations and visions see Grace calling out to him to join her in the afterlife.
