The pilot season introduces us to young Sheldon Cooper, or rather, Big bang Theory’s Sheldon’s early days as a child. Sheldon tries to pacify his mother mary, and thus gets his hands on a self-help book. He applies the same steps mentioned in real life to make his first friend.
Meanwhile, George Sr. gets admitted into the hospital due to reasons, which prompts Meemaw to visit and watch the kids instead. However, the kids set out to visit the hospital to see George, which treats them to a mini adventure of their own.
At school, he applies his analysis and mathematical strategies to help the school football team, who end up winning. This makes young Sheldon extremely popular in school, as everyone starts giving him the credit for the football team’s victory.
As Sheldon evolves into the adult scientist he was going to be, he goes to Nasa to invalidate a scientific theory of a Nasa employee who refuses to believe in his. Meanwhile, George asks Meemaw to give him her brisket recipe, which she blatantly refuses.
This sets young Georgie and Sheldon to come up with ways to resolve the family feud they were in. After things even out, George takes little Georgie and Sheldon to the launch of a space shuttle, while Mary, Meemaw, and Missy go on a girls’ trip.
By the end of the season, we see Meemaw double dating both Jon and Ira and finding it hard to choose one. As a matter of which, she decides to dump Ira but the latter tries to win her back by giving her furniture.
This makes John confront Ira and a feud to unravel, but it ends in peace as both come to a logical explanation together. However, meemaw gets really angry that John decided to confront Ira without seeking her approval, and also for the fact that young Sheldon is trying to have his nose in their relationship.
This makes Sheldon draw an agreement that involves Meemaw, John, and himself. The season ends by showing how he then goes on to draw one for his future children as well.

Season 2 managed to make headlines as Young Sheldon made a tribute to Big Bang Theory, the epic show that’s still everyone’s favorite. The connection between the two was established when young Sheldon set up an antenna at five in the morning to listen to the broadcast of the Nobel prize winners.
A quick run-in into Big Bang Theory and you must remember how adult Sheldon was the one to receive a Nobel prize himself. This whole scene in Young Sheldon managed to establish an emotional backdrop to it.
However, young Sheldon did not want to feel lonely, so he decides to host a party and call his friends over. As no one else cared just as much for the same, it ends up with Sheldon listening to the broadcast alone surrounded by empty chairs he hoped would be full.
What our young little bud didn’t know is that he will grow up to be with amazing people, have a great set of friends who all will love him to his core, and care for him as well. The scene cuts to another, one mile across Texas to a Sheldon Cooper who isn’t alone anymore.
The scene actually starts with showing Sheldon’s future best friend during his young days, Leonard Hofstadter.
And then it goes on to show every character from the Big Bang Theory when they were young, with Sheldon and Hofstadter listening to the broadcast at the same time. Penny, Howard, Raj, Bernadette, and Amy were in their homes, all of them, either reading a book or playing video games.
It established the future fact that even though Sheldon was alone and without friends at the moment, he will have friends who would be similar to him, and loving enough to celebrate his success when he does win the Nobel Prize himself.
And the best part about this season was that CBS decided to air it at a certain time, or special to be precise. It was just after the conclusion of the Big Bang Theory – and that’s what made it so special. It was actually the secret third chapter in huge, heartfelt goodbye.
The connection, the back and forth between the two shows, and everything else is what made this season identify itself as a fan favorite when compared to the rest.

Sturgis gets hospitalized into a mental hospital, which sets Mary spiraling that maybe something similar is awaiting Sheldon as well. She starts to analyze Sheldon’s mental paradigms and health, which gets her worried about the same.
When she starts questioning him indirectly to draw a better analysis, Sheldon sinks into self-doubt and starts thinking that maybe he really has a hampered mental state.
However, the situation comes to a rest when they visit the psychologist and Mary confesses what set her to her antics. In another news, Georgie realizes that a local book store is on the verge of going out of business, and thus starts selling globes worth $1 each.
Sheldon starts going to school but feels as if the problems or theories he is being made to study aren’t as challenging as he expected them to be. He thus starts to skip classes and instead resorts to a broom closet in the library, where he starts reading and studying books on his own.
When the cat is let out of the bag and the same is brought to George and mary’s notice, both of them enter a state of confusion and unacceptance as to whose responsibility it primary should be to put the matter to rest.
Once in the course of an argument, Connie suggests that Sheldon should audit Dr. Linkletter’s physics course, now that Dr. Sturgis is in the mental hospital. Even though the major fight is actually resolved, George starts to find himself disturbed due to it all and thus sets a date night up for Mary to make things right.
Meanwhile, Dr. Linkletter tries to find ways to meet Connie and thus decides to invite Sheldon to a robotics lecture. Connie freaks out and feels uncomfortable, and thus politely refuses to take Sheldon to the robotics lecture.
Sheldon starts to accuse Connie that she was being too selfish, which results in her spanking him. Even George and mary refuse to let Sheldon’s behavior slide, given how insulting he was to her.
To all this, Sheldon yells at his parents, accusing them of being way more selfish than Connie is, which results in him arriving at a joint decision of grounding Sheldon for a month straight. Angry young Sheldon hops onto a bus and rides to visit Dr. Sturgis.
However, his co-passenger points out his fault instead in the whole fiasco and makes him realize that he was in the wrong. This prompts Sheldon to apologize to his parents and Connie.
